Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Coating:
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • For Frying:
  • Vegetable oil enough for 2–3 inches in the pan

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the dough forms a ball.
  • Cool and Mix:
  • Let the dough cool for 5 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and well combined.
  • Heat the Oil:
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • Shape the Dough:
  • Use a spoon or piping bag to form small balls of dough (about 1 tablespoon each). Carefully drop them into the hot oil.
  • Fry the Churro Bombs:
  • Fry the balls in small batches for about 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Coat in Cinnamon Sugar:
  • Mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll the warm churro bombs in the mixture until fully coated.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
  • Serve your churro bombs warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as chocolate, caramel, or Nutella.
