Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups cake flour sifted
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp green food coloring
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened, for frosting
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened, for frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted, for frosting
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract for frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together cake flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
  • In a separate bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in eggs one at a time, followed by buttermilk, vanilla extract, and green food coloring.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  • Beat together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
  • Pipe the cream cheese frosting onto cooled cupcakes and serve.
