  • 3/4 cup warm milk about 110°F
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened, for filling
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed, for filling
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon for filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 tbsp milk for glaze
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for glaze

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add granulated sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix until combined.
  • Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Roll the dough out into a 12x18-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  • Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  • Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together, then sprinkle over the buttered dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Customization: Add chopped pecans or raisins to the filling for extra texture.
