  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 4-inch cake pans.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  • In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Frost and decorate as desired before serving.
