2 cups whole milk or any milk of choice 1 tbsp sugar or to taste 10-12 strands saffron soaked in 2 tbsp warm milk 0.25 tsp ground cardamom 1 tbsp chopped nuts almonds, pistachios, optional for garnish
In a small saucepan, add milk and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Do not boil.
Stir in the sugar, saffron with its soaked milk, and cardamom. Whisk well to combine.
Let the milk simmer on low heat for 2-3 minutes, allowing the saffron to infuse and the milk to slightly thicken.
Pour the saffron milk into serving cups and garnish with chopped nuts if desired. Serve warm.
Optional Equipment: A small strainer can be used to remove cardamom bits if whole pods are used.
Customization: Add a pinch of turmeric for a golden milk variation.
